The SWIT S-8972 is a high-quality replacement battery for the SONY NP-F970, designed for professional video work. It is fully compatible with a wide range of SONY camcorders such as HVR-V1/Z1/Z7, DSR-PD150/170/190, NEX-FS100/700/EA50, NXR-MC2000 and HD1000E, and can exchange digital information with the camera to display the remaining power directly in the viewfinder.
With a nominal voltage of 7.2 V and a capacity of 47 Wh / 6.6 Ah, the S-8972 provides extended run times – on a SONY HVR-Z1 camcorder you get approximately 5.5 hours of operation with the LCD monitor switched on. This makes the battery ideal for long shoots without frequent battery changes.
A 5.5/2.1 mm pole-tap DC output socket on the side of the battery (7.2 V nominal) allows you to power on-camera accessories such as LED lights, monitors or wireless transmitters simultaneously with the camera. The pole-tap output delivers up to 30 W at 4 A, offering sufficient power for typical on-camera setups.
The built-in 4-level LED power indicator lets you check the remaining capacity at a glance – perfect for quickly verifying charge status before a shoot. Multiple circuit protections ensure safe operation, guarding against overcharge, overcurrent and short circuit. The S-8972 can be charged with the SWIT dual channel charger S-3602F or the 4-channel charger LC-D421, requiring around 4 hours and 30 minutes to charge from empty to 100%.
