ARRI M18 – High-Output Daylight Fixture with MAX Technology

The ARRI M18 is a 1,800 W daylight fixture that combines the rugged True Blue design with the award-winning optical system of the ARRIMAX. Its MAX reflector technology, honored with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences “Scientific and Engineering Award”, delivers outstanding light output in a compact housing.

The M18 produces around 70% more light than a 1,200 W PAR fixture of comparable size and offers a continuous focus range from 15° to 58°. Like all luminaires in the M-Series, it operates without spread lenses, ensuring particularly simple and fast handling on set.

A patented cross-cooling system keeps critical electronic components at low temperatures, even at extreme tilt angles. This guarantees reliable operation with 1,800 W lamps inside the compact housing. The M18 can also run on 1,200 W lamps, making it fully compatible with existing 1.200 W ballasts. In combination with ARRI electronic ballasts, the M18 achieves maximum light output while maintaining excellent color rendition. The integrated CCL function (Compensation of Cable Losses) compensates voltage drops across cable runs of up to 100 m.

Thanks to the identical accessory diameter, the extensive accessory portfolio of the ARRISUN 12 and AS 18 can be used on the M18 as well. This allows you to integrate the M18 seamlessly into existing lighting setups and equipment packages.

On set, the M18 stands out for its excellent handling. The proven stainless steel disk brake of the True Blue series holds the fixture securely in position, even when using heavy accessories such as Chimera lightbanks. An optional frost glass provides an almost perfectly homogeneous beam. For specialized beam characteristics, a conversion kit with PAR reflector and matching claws is available, enabling the use of ARRISUN 12 or AS 18 lenses to achieve beam angles from approximately 6° to 65°. Easy access to the lamp head interior makes servicing and maintenance straightforward.

With an IP23 rating, the M18 is weather-resistant and well suited for exterior shoots. At 1,800 W, it can be powered from standard household sockets: 13 A at 230 V~ or 20 A at 120 V~. This makes the M18 a truly global solution for studio and location work alike.

ARRI offers an extended 5‑year warranty on its daylight systems, making the M18 a future-proof tool for demanding professional lighting applications both indoors and outdoors.
